Google is now really starting to focus on video, and every witch and her broom are creating products as quickly as they can to take advantage of this trend. And this is where Traffic Geyser comes in courtesy of Mike Koenigs.
How it works
At a basic level, Traffic Geyser is a video submission service. You do have some other options, such as a paid transcription service, video hosting and some others, but the reason that you go to Traffic Geyser is for the video submission feature.
You take the video that you have produced (normally less than 10 mins long) and upload it to Traffic Geyser. They then upload that video to all of the social media and podcast sites around saving you lots of time.
There are a varying number of social media sites that Traffic Geyser will submit to, and it depends on your membership level. The most common membership is the gold $97 per month. This gives you 3500 submission credits and allows you to submit to around 50 social media sites.
So What’s Good About Traffic Geyser?
The good news is that Traffic Geyser actually does what it says it does, and it does it pretty well. That is, it submits your videos to all of the social media sites that you have signed up for. This is a great way to get some pretty good quality backlinks (also some pretty ordinary ones though). You’ll also get a stack more people viewing your videos, with the chance that one of them just may go viral..
The Bad:
You have to manually set up all of the social media site accounts yourself. This can take up a LOT of time (to get them all done took me about a day) and so eventually i grabbed Imacro on firefox and automated a lot of this. Traffic Geyser does offer to sign up to all of the accounts for you, but at a cost of a further $97.
The problem with this is that the real value of automated submissions is if you are able to submit the video to multiple accounts. (that is to multiple youtube or yahoo video or whatever social media site you want) Ideally you’d have about 4. And that’s going to cost you just under $400 to get set up, or 4 days doing it.
While the search engines love video, they really love new videos, and your video will slip in rankings fairly quickly in competitive markets unless it gets a lot of views.
Who’s it for?:
Traffic Geyser is an excellent tool for automating the submission of your videos to social media sites, and also to get some backlinks to your site.
The best use of Traffic Geyser seems to be for companies or businesses looking to dominate their local markets.
Is Traffic Geyser Good Value For Money?
Traffic Geyser is not a budget service. It costs $97 per month, which i consider a little bit excessive. However if you’re creating and distributing 10+ videos per month, then it’s not too bad (working out at about $0.20 per submission)
My Overall Feeling About Traffic Geyser:
I’ve had a love hate relationship with Traffic Geyser, and have started and then cancelled the service several times. Mainly this has been because i wasn’t doing enough videos to warrant the $97 per month. If you are doing a lot of videos (5 – 10 per month) then i would say that the pricetag is worth the services that you’re going to get. Otherwise I would go with TubeMogul. (they’re free)
So How Does Traffic Geyser Rank?
Useabilty: Traffic Geyser gets 3 from 5. The website isn’t very good, and the user interface isn’t easy to use.
Usefulness: Traffic Geyser gets 4 out of 5 stars. It gets the job done and that’s the most important thing.
3. Value for money: (3/5) Overpriced IMHO.. $47 per month would have been plenty!
Overall Traffic Geyser gets a 3 out of 5 starts. Could have been a lot higher but the $97 price tag brought it down.
