Brief overview
Video is the next big thing on Google. And every man and his dog has been scrambling to create products to take advantage of this. Enter Mike Koenigs and Traffic Geyser.
What Does Traffic Geyser Do?
Traffic Geyser is at heart a video submission service. It has some other frills (such as a paid transcription service, and some video hosting) but what you’re paying the big bucks for is the video submission service.
You take the video that you have produced (normally less than 10 mins long) and upload it to Traffic Geyser. They then upload that video to all of the social media and podcast sites around saving you lots of time.
The social media sites that Traffic Geyser will submit your videos to depends on the level of membership that you have. Gold Membership is the most common at $97 per month.
What’s Good About Traffic Geyser?
Well, Traffic Geyser actually does what it says it does! That is, it submits your videos to lots of social media video sites around the net. Depending on the video site this can get you some pretty good backlinks. And if you do a good video, then you stand a better chance of that video going viral.
Where Does Traffic Geyser Get It Wrong?
You have to manually set up all of the social media site accounts yourself. This can take up a LOT of time (to get them all done took me about a day) and so eventually i grabbed Imacro on firefox and automated a lot of this. Traffic Geyser does offer to sign up to all of the accounts for you, but at a cost of a further $97.
The problem with this is that the real value of automated submissions is if you are able to submit the video to multiple accounts. (that is to multiple youtube or yahoo video or whatever social media site you want) Ideally you’d have about 4. And that’s going to cost you just under $400 to get set up, or 4 days doing it.
Also, even though the links from the video sites are good, the listings tend to get dropped fairly quickly from Google, especially in a competitive market.
Who Should Buy Traffic Geyser?
If you’re using video to expand your web presence then Traffic Geyser is an excellent tool to automate your video submission, for getting more traffic from social media sites, and for getting some incoming links to your site.
I think that it would be best used by people who are looking to use video to dominate their local markets. I’ve had some great success doing this.
Is Traffic Geyser Good Value For Money?
At $97 per month this is not a cheap service, do you better be sure that you are going to be doing at the very least 5 to 10 videos per month. This way you are paying somewhere between ten and twenty dollars per video for someone else to submit your video to video sites, which isn’t too bad.
Overall:
I’ve had a love hate relationship with Traffic Geyser, and have started and then cancelled the service several times. Mainly this has been because i wasn’t doing enough videos to warrant the $97 per month. If you are doing a lot of videos (5 – 10 per month) then i would say that the pricetag is worth the services that you’re going to get. Otherwise I would go with TubeMogul. (they’re free)
Traffic Geyser Rating.
1. Useablility: 3.5/5 Poorly designed website yet not too bad To Use
2. Usefulness: 4.5/5 (provided you do a lot of videos per month)
3. Value for money: (2.5/5) Overpriced IMHO.. $47 per month would have been plenty!
4: Overall: 4/5 Value aside, this is a very well put together package.
